Paradiski - Digitizing a Ski Resort

Consutling / Software engineering

Objective – enhancing the skier experience at Paradiski

Launched in 2016, Yuge is the public-facing application of the Paradiski ski area, connecting the resorts of Les Arcs, Peisey-Vallandry, and La Plagne, offering 425 km of slopes ranging from 3,226m to 1,200m in altitude. Ekino partnered with Paradiski to build an enhanced digital customer experience, improving user satisfaction for the “Yugeurs.” Our mission was to stabilize a platform that lacked the latest technological advancements in mobile applications.

  • 1st

connected ski resort in the world

  • 700K

users, with over 15,000 daily active users

  • 4

million lift usage data points collected

  • 2

million lift pass transactions processed per season

Challenges – How to adapt to the evolving behaviors of skiers? How can we bring digital innovation into the skiing industry?

Beyond the practical transformations brought by connected leisure (community engagement, personalized interactions, entertainment), we observed a fundamental shift in how people relate to the mountains.

By working closely with Paradiski teams, our consultants, mobile engineers (Android/iOS), and PHP engineers tackled key business and technical challenges:

Business Challenges:

  • Understanding the operational intricacies of ski resorts
  • Boosting user satisfaction by setting up an onsite and online support team (App Store, Google Play Store, social media)

Technical Challenges:

  • Integrating diverse data solutions and models from multiple partners: Teamaxess, Lumiplan, Trinum
  • Addressing connectivity limitations in mountain environments, ensuring data synchronization, and optimizing battery management for prolonged outdoor activities
  • Enhancing performance tracking and gamification features, especially on Android
  • Aligning with evolving Apple and Google regulations and mobile development constraints

Organizational and Relationship Challenges:

As a new integrator, ekino had to rebuild trust with Paradiski’s partners after challenges faced with previous service providers.

Our solution – a fully digital service supporting the diversification of mountain activities

We successfully stabilized the Yuge platform, ensuring a seamless experience for skiers by placing the resort at the core of the system. New and improved features were developed to enhance the user journey, including:

  • Photo and video management, integrating with photo spots installed across the resort
  • Enhanced ski route tracking, providing daily performance details
  • Achievement-based badge unlocking, rewarding skiers based on their performance

On a technical level, significant efforts were dedicated to investigation and reverse engineering, as we had to update a poorly documented five-year development history. Additionally, we focused on leveraging data to further improve the service.

None of this would have been possible without seamless collaboration with project partners and extensive real-world testing of the application.
